Applicability of AS17 Segment Reporting

The company does fall under Level II Enterprises of SMEs. Hence, AS17 is applicable.

However, the company has only one reporting segment.

Does the company has to follow AS17? Just because it does not have any other segment to disclose.

Give answer in brief.

No. Because your level 2 SME does not qualify to prepare IndAS statements as the turnover for these business are anywhere between 50 lakhs and 50 crores without other income included in the turnover- ICAI. In order to qualify to prepare IndAS statements, a company must have 250 or above crores turnover.

As per IndAS 108.3, the scope of operating segments limits such level 2 businesses to report their economic activities as an operating segment.

Turnover criteria mentioned by you is right. There is one more condition i.e.
Company should have borrowing of < Rs.10 cr during the FY. Then only AS17 relaxation benefit can be taken. - Source ICAI.

In my case, co has borrowing > 10 cr. AS 17 Applicable.

But, Company has only 1 Segment still I have mentioned that in the FS? because my P/L A/C and segment profit will be same. There is no value addition to the shareholder of the company.

Hello, I tried to look up at IndAS 17 Relaxation benefits and no results came up.

Next, allowances are tax regulations and no need to follow IndAS for that.

Finally, regarding the value of the share holder to parent company, only parent share capital is reported. So it won’t depict in the annual reports. However, SWM could be maximised through business development of operating segments. Now, this is like earning revenues and incurring expenses from various geographical areas. This can be classified as internal reporting. And you will make disclosures in the annual reports.

Thank for help, Yashaswi Gomes.
