Appeal to Institute

Dear freinds,

Congratts to all who became Chartered Accountants today.

May god give you happy and prosperous life ahead.

But I want to say something also to those students who didnt cleared this time.

As we all are aware of the passing percentage for past few attempts. It is decreasing drastically from last 3-4 attempts and this time it was 3.46%, a pathetic figure for CA Final students who gave May 2010 attempt, and also for those who are giving attempts for last 3-4 atempts but didnt cleared this time also.

If this is becoz of economic recession or slowdown, or may be becoz industry cannot absorb sufficient CA's, then why should only we bear the consequencies.

Institute is decreasing pass percentage every attempt at final level  to regulate the release of CA's, but as per my opinion this is not the way to balance industry's demand for CA's.

A student, who has spent 4 or 5 rigourous years for reaching at final level is blocked at the final level for so long, it is not good for future of this industry. It feels like cheated for the students who are studying hard and working in harsh conditions so that one day they will become CA.

If regulating the release of CA's is the only motive of institute, then why should it be at Final level, why not at the entry level itself. Institute should make these barriers at the entry level by incerasing the required percentage to become eligible for this course, so that student could decide at an early stage whether he should opt for this course or not, instead of demoralising at the final level, which is a point of no return.

I m writing all this to make you all think on this issue. It is my personal opinion, it may not be acceptable to many of you. Thats why, we'll have further discussions on this issue depending upon the replies posted.

Everyone who read this is requested to post some reply on this issue.

Hi friends

Congrats to all those who qualified today.

I totally agree with Anubhav and I think, it is high time that Institute should think about revising the whole CA qualification process. It is very wrong and demoralising for people to be stuck at final levels with one or both groups remaining...as that is a point of no return and no one Recognises CA INTER/CA PE-II as a whole degree.

Institute started ATC as a recourse for persons stuck at final level, but I dont think many people will agree with ATC being their highest qualifiaction, when they have total knowledge and have studied CA final syallabus.

I have faced such dillema when I didn't got thru for 2 consecutive times with only 3 papers remaining at CA final level. I got cleared today, but the fact of the matter is, it was a very painful experience being stuck in range of 190-199 and not knowing what went wrong, and what shud I do next. Choosing another career option is not feasible, as all courses (MBA, CPA etc.) require atleast 3 yrs time, and after investing 4-5 years in CA after 12th, its hardly anytime left for going down that road.

Institute shud think about seiving the cream at entrance level only, so young students' career doesn't stand at crossroads with him thinking, about wat to do next at an age of 23-25 if I dont get thru at CA final.

Like all Engineering and Business Schools, CA Institute shud also make entrance level harder, so that students who unfortunately can't get thru entrance can think about other career options too when they have time. At age of 23-25 one can't think about chosing another career option like MBA or else, if he doesn't get thru CA Final. Once cleared the enterance exam, student shud not be made to wait for getting a "Signing Authority" aka degree.

Its my humble request to ICAI that please thouroughly revise the procedure of completing CA, so that the profession retains its charm between students and members alike.

Agreed with you Anubhav on this issue. Although it may not be justified to say for increasing the CA Final result since its based on future demand and many unknown factors which we can't say here, but at least it should not be like that in comparison the CPT result should be increased just to make more students enter the profession.

We are not the experts to justify or determine the basic logic behind this situation. Analysis of my 2010 result indicates a situation where almost 1000 students become CA  and against this 35000 students cleared CPT. So in this way, the CA students increased by 34000 in one attempt only. This situation poses and awake many questions to think.

Lets see the views of other members.

Fully agree with Gaurav veiw, Even I had also experience the same and was of the same view for last 5 years or so.........No doubt in the truthness of the fact stated by Gaurav.

I also agree with you all.

Thanx guys for posting replys on this issues.

We cannot protest or compell the institute to change their policies, but we can bring this issue in front of them.

I would suggest that we all should send mails to the institute requesting them in a humble tone, to think about this issue. I think this move will atleast make them to think about the pressure students are facing at the final level. Just for 5 or 6 marks a student has to wait for another 6 months. This doesnt seems to be fair.

I request you all to bring this issue in front of institute by whatever mode you consider appropriate.i.e mails, letters etc.

You can find appropriate mail addresses on institute website.
