Anyone in Big4 - Plz help!

Big four 1176 views 8 replies

Now I am not sure whether this is correct forum but still......

Hi, I have cleared my CA in first attempt and am planning to join Big4 in Taxation profile. I have heard that there are crazy working hours in Stat Audit in any of the Big4 and also there is lot of travelling involved as well, athough I am not sure whether both late timings and travelling are the same in Taxation profile also. I stay in Mumbai and would want to avoid travelling out of Mumbai

I have also heard that Big4 provide a cab or other travelling facilities for daily travels from office to residence. I would be glad if any1 who is already doing a job in a Big4 would share his/her experience about the conditions in case of a taxation profile. Also, as a fresher, what is the starting package that I can expect in any of the Big4 in Mumbai?

Your valuable suggestions / sharing of experience would help me in making correct decision......

Thanks in advance

Hey! no. thats not true! i got moderate marks. but i am working in one of the big fours!!! :D since past one year! thats just not true! u need to have knowledge.. and not rank!

agree with kanishka.........

Guys.... I am not looking for an articleship, I have cleared CA and am looking for a job. I only need to be clear about the travelling and timing constraints in case of Taxation profile in Big4

Hey Anon CA! congrats for ur success. :)

So, i am working in delhi with one of the big fours, but i have friends in Mumbai as well. So its more or less the same scene there also. This will surely give u a fair idea of whats out there.

The travelling part totally depends on which team u join in. The HR decides which team u go, basically where ever they see the lack of resource. The work/clients are given to a team to handle. So whenevr u go up to the HR, make sure that u lay ur condition in front of them. There cud b a team wich deals with all the clients outside ur city, or there cud b a team wich deals with the local clients. The cab service is otherwise provided in general. but thats just to and from the office. If at all the u will get a transport to go from offc to clients place depends on ur client's budget (Like if they can squeeze in a car or sum reimbursment) Also, ur rapport with ur manager defines a lot of things. So, thats one thng.

And the timing part. See. ANY job in a big four will make u work like crazy! be it an intern or associate consulatnt or manager. When work is calling , u cannot ignore it,. As far as i know people in tax, the closing are a BIG pain. but otherwise, its all cool and easy.butthen its the case everywhr u know. when evr some project is ending, the work hours go erratic! :)

Hope this helps. :) all the best
