Quick Summary
Due to the significant increase in Covid-19 cases, there's a question about extending the Income Tax Return (ITR) filing deadline for the financial year 2018-19. While the government has already extended the deadline for belated returns to 31st July 2020 as a Covid-19 measure, any further extension remains speculative and depends on government decisions. It is advisable to file your return before the current extended deadline.

Last date of filing ITR for the financial year ended on 31st March 2020.
Usually belated return shall be filed for F.Y. 2018-19 till 31st March 2020 but as Covid measure gov has extend time limit to file belated return from 31st March to 31st July 2020.

it would merely speculation to predict about further extension. It depends over govt. , so it would be better to file before extended due date.
Because of Covid 19 filing date of income tax return for FY 2018-19 is extended till 31.07.2020
As there is no scope further for such extension
Due to Covid measure, IT department has postponed the Last date for filing the belated returns ITR for the FY 2018-19 to 31st July 2020.
