Annual Information Statement

Is there any deadline for filing AIS ?
Also are we allowed to file returns for AY 22-23 without filing AIS ?

Quick Summary
The Annual Information Statement (AIS) is automatically generated based on taxpayer information, meaning you don't directly file it. While you can submit your tax return without filing the AIS, doing so might lead to discrepancies later, requiring a revised return and extra work. It's advisable to ensure your return aligns with the AIS to avoid future complications.

AIS is generated on the basis of information related to a taxpayer like 26AS. In other words, taxpayers themselves don't file AIS.

Yes, you may file return without AIS but later if any discrepancy w.r.t.AIS, then we have to revise return. Extra work in this case.

I totally disagree with poor Nima.
first an assesse is supposed to file returns after the end of the relevant previous year. After the end of relevant previous year the due date is there. Returns are filed. Datas are automatically updated in 26AS.in case the datas are not updated. We can raise an intimation to the AO.
