Amt received from non resident

378 views 4 replies
A person is living outside India for employment became a non resident because he is not fulfill any basic condition.
From his income he remit some amount in India for day to day family expenses
So my question is that whether this particular amount is taxable or not?
If it is not taxable so what should be the treatment ?

If the amount remitted is already tax paid  in the country of his employment, and when he sends it through banking channel to any of his family members' bank account as support to his family, its not taxable in India again. It may be treated as personal expense or at the most as Gift.

So in that case Family members how should be reported these transactions in their return
Because assessee need to give the reason of banking transactions?

Schedule EI......... Gift from relative......

Thanku
