hello all,

i m kishor, and an engr professional,

dear all,

i inquired with my employer, that whats' my hra in my overall ctc, they said its 15% of the basic salary.

but i check with IT dept thats max hra exemption which we can get is 40% of the basic salary & i think in this lines,employer shouldn't fix any limit on hra in overall salary break.

my company said that they can give max hra exemption of 15% of my basic, but i want total benefit of 40% of the basic salary. so i wanted to ask that can i claim this exemption in my final filing of IT retrun.

Dear Ahok G,

You can claim max. hra exemption min. of following:-

1. actual amount of hra recd

2. rent paid -10% of salary

3. 40% or 50%(metro city) of salary(basic)

therefore u can not claim hra more than u receive from ur employer
