DIN(Director Identification Number) is a unique number, which is alloted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, for an individual. 

The concept is very simple. Every person who files IT returns need to have PAN right? In the same manner every person who wish to become a Director in a company must have DIN. As the name itself indicates it is a number for identifying a Director.

DIN (Director Identification Number) is a unique identification number for an existing / proposed director. Any individual who is a diretor or intends to become a director of a company should apply for DIN.
