Ajay srinivasan

I work at a headhunting agency that caters to high profile, senior management recruitment needs. Things have changed in the last 10 years. While earlier we would consider only Indians for these positions, now there are expats from different countries who seem eligible. I do understand the value of their exposure, but I wonder whether they would really understand the cultural differences and get the best out of their teams.

The exposure of having worked in a developed economy could add significant value in the top management. It is equally important that they understand the pulse of the country or region. A perfect solution is to consider Indians who have worked in developed economies. For instance, Ajay Srinivasan joined Aditya Birla Group after having worked in Hong Kong for around a decade. This was a great move, as he had relevant knowledge, international exposure and a good understanding of the psychology of the Indian consumers.
