Adjustment of sat against tds

Our client has not deducted TDS on salary throughout the yer and has instead paid the entire amount as self assessment tax at the end of the year.

1. Is there anyway by which this payment as self-assessment tax be adjusted as TDS paid ?

2. In such a case is it mandatory to file his eTDS return ?

3. If yes , then what will be the contents of this return ? ( Only interest and late payment fees with amount column as 0 or dividing the entire amount in 12 months and giving proportionate effect to interest and late fees)

Please Help.

Dear Valay,

Subject to assumption that, your client without deducting tds had paid tax on behalf of employees, my opinion is that,

As tax is paid, there will be no tds liability, but client need to pay penalty & interest
