as far as i think computer has seperate rate of depreciation and doesnot come under the catadory of plant and machinery, and additional depreciation is available only for the machines used for the production activity and the machine being a 1st hand purchase from india only, so, as computer is not directly related to manufacturing, additional depreciation is not available for the same... i think am clear, ... chao
Plant and Machinery Block contains Computer and Computer Software for which rate of depreciation is prescribed 60%.
Hence, if any comuter device is installed for manufacturing purposes (eg. CAD Design Systems or Special Computer Systems for Control of Automated Machineries). Additional Depreciaiton can be claimed.
However, in respect of Computer, the use of which cannot be linked with manufacturing activities, additional depreciaiton cannot be availed. (eg. Computers for Administration purpose)
