well. u can install this file recovery software at ur friends' system. Then you can connect to his terminal from your workplace using Remote Desktop Connection (using his IP address and administrator right user ID n password) and run all analysis and recover files on your friend's machine from your location. But during this activity, your friend will not be able to use this machine for other purpose.
