A Mother’s Treasures

By Rungeen Singh

I know, my child, I know. You have to try out your wings

And make a place for yourself in your profession.

Yes, yes, I know you have to go, but can’t you wait a bit?

No?Oh! All right, you can go but first just give me time

To collect the essence of your entity which as memories

Will later be valuable companions of my loneliness…

Let me select the essentials, my treasure, just for myself.

First…I must keep with me, your first cry, heralding

Your entry into my world, illuminating it with magic…

And then… the tender softness when as a baby

You held my finger with baffling strength

In reality, you were holding my heart in your grip

How I wished that you would never loosen your hold

But alas! This traitor Time does not stay still.

You stopped being my creeper and I let you grow…

Next to gather is the naughty chuckle of your childhood

Plus the bubbling giggles of your adolescence

Interspersed with shouts of unadulterated laughter

That I was blessed to be able to hear

The hilarity I must recapture to enliven my waning years.

And… soon the sinful howl of laughter was replaced

By the mature humor of your confident youth today

I will preserve it also to resound in my very being…

Also just let me keep the photograph of each expression

Of every nuance you ever felt. The yearnings and pining

The tears, the despair, the depressions and frustrations

Enough for the abundant albums of my memory…

The main winning trophies of your triumphs of values

I will frame to decorate the four walls of my existence

All this is a part of you that no one can take away

It is mine forever. Now your life is your own,

And later you will belong to your wife, so I have to let go...

But till now you are only mine and every moment

Of your growth and development is close to my soul.

I have the copyright which I will not share with anyone.

Whatever you are till now, is there in my heart and soul

You are a part of us, your parents. This no one can take away. Remember. We love you and will always love you.

As you foray into the world, we will be there for you.

So now you can go, my heartbeat, as I have preserved every breath of your existence that is so linked with mine

And now they are my treasures which will enlighten

Each moment I have to spend without you

I will always carry in my heart, my darling child

This valuable collection of many treasures

That will enrich my existence right till I die. I am sure

They will make the rest of my life, truly worthwhile.

A wonderful poem by a wonderful human being, portraying the feelings of a mother towards her child.

Wonderful poem, so beautifully she has described her journey with the child from the birth to his youth. Thank you Bhaiya for sharing such a beautiful poem by a very beautiful woman.

Thanks Sanjay for the wonderful message. I always feel good and cherish the old memories with my mother when I come across such kind of post.

Mother is, likely, one of those few words whose very cite inspires a fountain of emotions in the heart of almost every person.

As very well said by a wise man- “The mother's lap is the first school for every child”. It is his first temple; mother is his foremost God. Mother is every man's primary wealth.

Each and every one of us considers one important person that has made a huge impact in our lives. Some of us consider our mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, best friend, husband and wife as the most significant individual in our lives. But for me my mother is the most important person in my life. For me the mother polish the future leaders, entrepreneurs, religious leaders and important individuals in the society.

My mother is the most significant figure in my life because “Aaj mai jo kuch bhi hoon uski wajah sa hoon”. She always eats last during dinner time in order to ensure enough food for me. Even if I am not the best child she could ever have, she always makes me feel that I am the best gift she ever received from God.

Who ran to help me when I fell, and would some pretty story tell, or kiss the place to make it well? My Mother…”

“God could not be everywhere, therefore, he made mothers.”

Thanks

Its a pleasant surprise for me, for a second I felt, it was me there..:-), absolutely... it was a mother, all mothers are alike, bachho ki har adaa maa ko pyari hein, bachho ka hasna, rona, sharaarat, gussa, masumiyat, only a mother can feel it, as if she is nothing without her child, Thankyou for sharing such a pleasant flow of a mother's heart...

Wonderful post..Keep sharing

I don't know whether I could feel the words of the poem 4 years ago in the same way as I do now, - as a Father. After having the choicest of the blessings of the Almighty in the form of my Daughter, I feel that the only true answer to the question, " Who are you, Sourav?" is - " I am a father ".

Thank you Sanjay Ji, for introducing me to the creative world of the poet. As I sense it, the author-reader relationship will be an ever-lasting one.

great posts by ankur sir and sanjay sir

keep posting sir

cheers

Mother, Mother

The one that gave me life,
The one who's cared for me all the way.
The one that's there when I cry,
The sunshine of my day.

The one who tucked me in,
Who fed me.
The one who taught me how to win,
How to read.

The one that potty trained me,
And showed me how to be good.
The one I look up to in times of need,
The one that taught me that looks aren't everything.

The one that changed my diapers when I was small,
The one that had me in her tummy for 9 months.
The one who has taken me to the mall,
The one that taught me right from wrong.

The one that has bought me everything,
And still does.
The one that has taught me how to sing,
The one that always makes a big fuss.

The one that rocked my cradle to make me fall asleep,
The one who calms me down.
The one that gives me more than what I need,
The one that has taught me how not to make a sound.

The one who has given me a shelter over my head, clothes on my back,
and food in my mouth,
The one that lives for me.
The one that taught me East, West, North and South,
The one who encourages me to succeed.

The one that treats me like a princess,
The one that taught me not to be rude.
The one that never lets me miss school when there's a test,
The one who has taught me to live in a world that's this cruel.

The one that taught me to keep my head up,
The one who has taken and still takes care of me when I'm ill.
The one who tells me to keep climbing that mountain 'til you're on top,
The one who I keep a picture of on my windowsill.

The one who has to put up with me alone,
With no child support, whatsoever.
The one who I think should take her place in the queen's throne,
The one who I shall love forever.

The one who I call "Mother",
"Mom" or "Mommy".
No other name shall she rather,
No other name shall she be called by me.

Mother, mother, hear me carefully,
Without you I shall not have life.
Without you I shall not breathe,
Without you I shall die.

Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.
                                     - Unknown

A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.
