you cannot claim exemption on medical spendings, u/s 80D you can claim deduction on medical insurance premium and medical health check up. Now medical check up limit is 5000rs. there is no deduction on expenses like medicines, operation and icu admit etc so, see to it what you have done and claim accordinly. limit is 50,000rs for parents if they are senior citizen and 30,000 if not senior citizen and 25,000rs for Self spouse and dependent child combine.
I am a salary person I have made medical treatment to my own diseases can I claim my medical expenditure in my return in 80 ddb
treatment is not eligible if uh have medical insurance and if uh pay its premium then its eligible
80ddb is a special case where only certain diseases only eligible. Check whether the disease is eligible.
u/s 80-D u can claim following expences for At 19-20

1. medical ins. premium paid up to Maxi 30000-for ur self &ur family .
However if ur Mother is also insured with u u can claim up to Rs 50,000-

2. expenditure on Medical tests paid even in CASH allowed up to 5000- pa which is within above limit

3. if u r not paying any Medclaim ins. premium even then u can claim exp. up to 50,000- provided u have paid it by CHEQUE/BANK TFR but NOT in CASH.
However exp on TESTS can be Spent in Cash also but that exp is within limit of above 50,000-
pl. now be happy, if paid by Chq/Tfr

4 .u will preserve all prescripttions / chemist Bills/ Receipts medical bills/ all documents etc.
