 like to call finance "the science of money". Starting a career in finance can be very exciting and diverse. There are many different

opportunities for people including banking, mortgages, securities or basically anything you can think of. There is no single personality of

someone working in finance, because money is truly a right brain left brain science. There are numbers involved, obviously, but there is also

a big creative component as well.

A career in finance starts with a good education. Because of the competition, to enter the world

of finance you will need at least a bachelor's degree. Graduate school is usually necessary for

advancement down the road, but the best part is that it is paid for a lot of the time by your

employer. You can attend graduate school online while workin

 

There are many sections of finance but you can major in accounting, math, economics or even

statistics. Finance is kind of a mixture of creativity and math at the same time. You don't have to

be excellent in math because the problems really aren't that hard, but you do need to be

ambitious. If you've ever  seen the movies u know what i mean

While in school. you can get an internship or job that pays decent. Although we are in a

recession, there are still many jobs in finance out there. Credit and equity finance, loan

companies and other types of companies are always in need of entry level people. It can be a

fun experience to see how you really fit in with working with money. If you are attending school,

go to the career day or see the career center to get hooked up with a job

If you get in with a good solid company, start to ask about graduate school programs. Many big

firms or corporations will actually pay your way to graduate school. Having that degree behind

your name will open up a ton of doors. To be honest, there are a lot of opportunities to advance

in finance, but there is a point when you will need an MBA or higher to compete

Cookie cutter resumes and personalities won't cut it anymore. You have to be ambitious and

charismatic. Also, try the big insurance companies like State Farm. On their websites they have

career links with all sorts of jobs all over the country
