N.V.MANI is an Electrical engineer and postgraduate in Business Administration, with over 40 years of industrial experience in Petroleum, Petrochemical and fertilizer units. He has membership in professional societies IEEE /SPE/ IEI/ KMA and has presented over 100 technical papers.

Presently he serves as faculty in various training programmes in Oil Industry - Refineries and Petrochemical plants, in the fields of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Power / Electrical engineering.

He retired in Oct.2004 from ‘BPCL-Kochi Refinery’ after serving 23 years in this company.  During tenure with Kochi Refinery, he held positions as “DGM (Technical Services) responsible to provide design engineering support to Operation and Maintenance, and as “DGM (Project)”, for timely commissioning of refinery expansion / revamp projects. His assignments included implementation of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) schemes. He was core group member for ISO-9000 implementation.

He was on deputation from BPCL -Kochi Refinery, for 7 years, to ‘Oil Industry Safety Directorate’, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, as its “Additional Director (Engineering)”. Assignments at OISD covered safety promotional activities of Oil & Gas installations, evolving engineering standards on safe design, operation, inspection and maintenance, safety audits, accident investigations, developing databases on safety records etc.

Prior to joining Kochi Refinery, Mr. Mani was working with ‘EIL (Engineers India Limited), for over 12 years. At EIL, he held the position of ‘Senior Engineer’ in charge of several design and construction of electrical projects at Refineries, Petrochemicals, and Fertilizer plants. He was on deputation from EIL as ‘Senior Specialist (Electrical)’ at Khor Al-zubair Fertiser project, Basra, Ministry of Industries and Minerals, Govt.of Iraq.

Mr. Mani commenced career with ‘GEC (General Electric Co)’ in their Contract division and served 3 years in the industrial electrification projects.
