The relaxations are intended to expedite the approval process for imported cylinders and pressure vessels used for the storage and transportation of medical oxygen, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

No, due to the pandemic, PESO will not conduct physical inspections of global manufacturers' production facilities before granting approval for the import of these cylinders and vessels.

Approvals will be granted online without delay upon submission of the manufacturer's particulars, ISO certificate, list of cylinders with specifications, batch numbers, hydro test certificates, and third-party inspection certificates.

Every foreign manufacturer or importer must apply for import permission through the PESO online system.

Yes, if an importer has applied online to PESO and a decision is pending, the exemption allows them to bring oxygen cylinders urgently for COVID relief activities in India.

It is the responsibility of the consignee to follow the procedures outlined in the relaxed conditions prior to filling the medical oxygen into these cylinders at refillers or filling plants.
