The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is introducing mandatory online recording of all DFIA (Duty Free Import Authorization) scrip transfers to facilitate electronic and paperless transactions. FAQ :

The main change is the mandatory online recording of information about the transfer of DFIA scrips and the move towards paperless issuance of these scrips.

Paper copies of DFIA scrips for EDI ports will be discontinued effective from 07.06.2021. Paper copies will continue to be issued for Non-EDI Ports.

The original scrip owner (transferor) must record the transfer information on the DGFT website before the new owner (transferee) can utilise the scrip. Both transferor and transferee must ensure this information is recorded.

If an ARO/Invalidation is requested for a DFIA scrip issued before 07.06.2021, the details of any transfer must be recorded in the DGFT online system. This is not required if the original scrip owner is requesting the ARO/invalidation.

Yes, after the transfer information is recorded and confirmed on the DGFT e-platform, the new owner can record further transfers of the scrip to another entity.
