Govt extend the date of applicability of additional duty of excise on unblended diesel

New Delhi, the 31stMarch, 2023

G.S.R. (E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 11/2017-Central Excise, dated the 30thJune, 2017, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i),videnumber G.S.R. 793(E), dated the 30thJune, 2017, namely:-

In the said notification,-

I. in the Table, against Sl. No. 3, in column (3), after item (ii), in the proviso, for thefigures “2023”, the 2024”shall be substituted.

Note: -The principal notification No. 11/2017-Central Excise, dated the 30thJune, 2017 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide,number G.S.R. 793(E), dated the 30thJune, 2017 and last amended by notification No.31/2022-Central Excise, dated the 30thSeptember, 2022published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide,number G.S.R. 753(E), dated the 30thSeptember, 2022.

FAQ :

The main change is the extension of the applicability date for the additional duty of excise on unblended diesel from 2023 to 2024.

The principal notification No. 11/2017-Central Excise, dated 30th June, 2017, has been amended.

The new date is 2024.

This notification was issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue).
