FAQ :

The main purpose is to amend the existing Customs notification to include and clarify the electronic entry and processing of postal exports.

The amendments are made in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 51B of the Customs Act, 1962, and specifically amend notification NO. 25/2023 - Customs (N.T).

The notification now includes 'entry made electronically under section 84 of the said Act for exports by post' alongside the traditional 'bill of export'.

These electronic entries will be processed on the customs automated system, provided they are undertaken through foreign post offices that allow such electronic entry.

This means that electronic submissions for postal exports are now officially recognised and integrated into the customs processing system, potentially leading to a more efficient export procedure.
