Subject : Amendment in Import Policy Condition for de – notifying STC as an STE for import of Copra and Coconut Oil under Chapter 12 and 15 of ITC (HS), 2017, Schedule – I (Import Policy).

S.O. (E). - In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 of FT (D&R) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-2020, as amended from time to time, the Central Government, hereby amends the policy conditions of the following Exim Codes as under:

Effect of this Notification: Import of Copra under HS Code 1203 00 00 is allowed through MMTC; while import of Coconut oil- under HS codes 1513 11 00 (Crude) and 1513 19 00 (Others) is allowed through STEs, except STC.

This issues with the approval of Minister of Commerce & Industry.

Note : The principal notification No. 36/2015-2020, dated the 17th January, 2017 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary vide number S.O. 172(E) , dated the 17th January, 2017.

FAQ :

The import policy for Copra and Coconut Oil has been amended. Copra imports are now allowed through MMTC, and Coconut oil imports are allowed through STEs, excluding STC.

The HS Codes affected are 1203 00 00 for Copra, and 1513 11 00 (Crude Coconut oil) and 1513 19 00 (Other Coconut oil) for Coconut oil.

MMTC is now authorised to import Copra under HS Code 1203 00 00.

Yes, Coconut oil imports under HS codes 1513 11 00 and 1513 19 00 are allowed through State Trading Enterprises (STEs), but not through STC.
