In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 39/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996 which was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide number G.S.R.291(E), of the same date, namely:-
In the said notification, in the Table, against S.No.29, in column (3), in the Explanation, for the words, letters and figures “the 1st day of December, 2007”, the words, letters and figures “the 1st day of June, 2008” shall be substituted.

Note:- The principal notification No.39/1996-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996 was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide G.S.R. 291(E), dated the 23rd July, 1996 and was last amended vide notification No.14/2008-Customs, dated the 4th February, 2008 which was published vide number G.S.R. 67 (E), dated the 4th February, 2008.
