Around 6,000 Chartered Accountancy students wrote to the Chief Justice of India.
The students are requesting the CJI to take suo-moto cognizance of their plea and direct the ICAI to provide an unconditional Opt Out facility, increase attempts for Old Course students, and conduct an additional exam for those unable to appear.
Students are seeking an unconditional opt-out option due to potential COVID-19 infection, family emergencies related to the pandemic, or other pandemic-related reasons, allowing them to defer their exams to a later cycle.
The July 2021 exam is the final attempt for 'Old Course' students. If they cannot appear, they will be forced to switch to the new syllabus, losing their previous efforts.
They are also requesting an additional examination attempt for students who are unable to appear for the July 2021 exams, similar to provisions made in previous exam cycles.
The examinations were scheduled to begin from July 5th.
