Today when i check on uidai website for my Aadhaar enrolment status i got this error message.

"Your Aadhaar enrolment has been rejected due to incorrect Relationship proof document. Please reenrol with valid documents. List of valid supporting documents is available on UIDAI official website www.UIDAI.gov.in"

But i had given my voter ID card (EPIC) as proof of relationship which was very much clear. Still they rejected. I m tensed now.

Should i retry with same document again ? plz guide on how to fix this error.

Hey Nayan!

Getting your Aadhaar enrolment rejected due to “incorrect relationship proof document” can be frustrating, especially when you feel you submitted a valid document like your EPIC (Voter ID).

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Check the UIDAI list of valid documents carefully:
Sometimes, even if the document looks valid, it may not be accepted as proof of relationship. For relationship proof, UIDAI accepts documents like:

    • Passport of family member

    • Birth certificate

    • Marriage certificate (for spouse)

    • Ration card (if it mentions your name and relationship)

    • Pension document/Photo passbook issued by bank or post office to the family member

Voter ID (EPIC) is generally accepted as identity proof but may not always be accepted as relationship proof unless explicitly mentioned.

  2. Verify what exactly you submitted:
Did you submit EPIC as a relationship proof document or just identity proof? The rejection says relationship proof, so that’s the focus.

  3. Re-enrol with correct proof:
If you can, try to provide a more explicit relationship proof document as per the UIDAI list. For example, if enrolling as a child with parent’s Aadhaar, birth certificate is the strongest proof.

  4. Contact the enrolment center:
Visit the Aadhaar enrolment center or contact UIDAI helpline to clarify why exactly your document was rejected. Sometimes, the problem is minor or due to scanning/photocopy quality.

  5. Retry with correct document:
It’s best to re-enrol with the correct relationship proof document. Re-using the same document that got rejected may result in another rejection.

Summary:
Since your enrolment was rejected for relationship proof, and EPIC may not be considered valid for this, try submitting a document explicitly recognized by UIDAI for relationship proof next time.
