Young india independence day?

Today is 15th August 2013, 67th Independence Day of Our Great Country INDIA.

But today if we ask question from young India "What is Independence day? How we got freedom from British rule?'

Young India has hardly have time to think and remember about freedom fighter which really not their fault, Due to drastically change in every field like communication media, social life, work culture etc  unlike the past where communication was hardly possible, the youth of today look back with cynical eyes wondering what Independence Day is all about. They mop up historical tales along with grandma’s bedtime stories, proclaiming both as fiction. Today every bit of information is easily available in one's drawing room, tea table due to technology and more over their own hand with mobile technology.  Violence, s*x, perversion, murder, rape – it’s all there, served with enough sauce to spice up. Last year Delhi rape case, a ten year daughter was asking from her parents what is rape with curiosity. Mummy’s daily show, Cartoon, reality show, game show, socialing life of the rich and famous, celebrity make-over are the kind that fuel the imagination of the youth today.

It is really hard for them to take their minds off or wash from their surrounding stuffs and immerse themselves to witness how Indians toiled hard decades back to achieve Independence in 1947 when an occasion like Independence Day is around. Today’s youth do show respect when the tricolour is hoisted or the National Anthem is being sung, yet the spirit of patriotism which was so very strong during yesteryears is not the same these days.

Comment on our Soldier they are born to die, is taking away the mind of young India from patriotism. if we ask from young children ask what is patriotism we hardly get the answer when we explain then They appreciate the sacrifices made by their forefathers and pay homage to them and see Bhagat Singh immortalised by Ajay Devgan and Booby Deol and our soldier look like Sunny Deol & Hrithik Rosan and their (solider) life style too these heroes. One hand they have their eyes set on a different future for themselves, when we ask what you want to be and why Cricketer, Actor, Actress because it’s have fame and money. Cricket is become game of nation but hardly have they known our national game is Hockey. Today’s hero & heroines are as varied as Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Anna Hazare, Narendra Modi, Anuska Sharma, Deepika, Saina Nehwal, Kiran Bedi and Arundhati Roy.

Do you think young Indian mind is going away from these National Festival?

And what will be situation in next 50 years whether these festival will remain or vanish?

There is nothing to celebrate about India's Independence day on August 15. August 15 and days before and after it in 1947 were the bloodiest months in India's history with the inter community killings and the partition of India. Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims in Punjab and Bengal were killing each other. People of one village went on a killing spree and killed entire villages of the other religion. Millions of people fled across the border from either side for fear of people of the other religion, leaving behind their homes, jobs and belongings. Many trains crossing the borders with fleeing people arrived at their destination with dead passengers murdered enroute. Many ended up in refugee camps and became beggars. The country was burning on August 15 when it got Independence, and even the borders of the partition had not been announced at that time, because the British would have to deal with the job of protecting people if the partition happened before Independence. They wanted to just get away from India, and had been trying to pull out of India since many years only delayed by the petty little fights between the Congress and the Muslim League failing to arrive at a working solution. Struggle for Independence had been over many years ago. The British did not want to stay in India even if you wanted them to. They had their own problems in their homeland with the world war 2. Our textbooks do the false propaganda as if it was such a victory making the British go away and August 15, 1947 was the pinnacle of achievement. It was not. It was the pinnacle of shame. People's lives were torn apart due to the political games of Nehru and Jinnah. Even Gandhi who is considered to have played a big role in the freedom struggle did not celebrate. There was only tragedy in 1947, so why is everyone hell-bent on celebrating the Independence day, if they had any respect for Gandhi? He is totally ignored. Just stop celebrating this day and get back to work or school or whatever it is you do normally. Remember with sadness the cruelty of partition. The decision to grant India Independence had been taken several years prior to 1947 (have to check what date it was) so if at all you want to honour the freedom fighters, it should be on that day, not on the day of mass murder, suicide, forced conversions, arson, rape and partition.

Who is going to restore the lives of people killed in partition violence. The flag doesn't bring back the dead. I couldn't care less about the colors of a piece of cloth or even if India was still under the British. Why is Independence such a big deal? There already existed Indian government, Reserve bank etc prior to Independence, only white people were occupying them. People imagine as if all these were created after Independence. People had the freedom to get educated, excel and even win Nobel prizes (C.V.Raman, Chandrasekhar) even during colonial rule.
