No, what u'v heard is wrong. Marks are not deducted if section is not quoted, but u may loose a mark for quotation of the wrong section, i.e, say the provisions that u'v written are 100% correct, but the section quoted is wrong, u'l get a 7 instead of 8 inspite of the answer having been absolutely correct. You will not get a flat zero.

Dont worry. You will not get a 0, but I think that you will neither get 6or7 out of 8. My guess would be around 5 out of 8 if your answer is perfect in all other respects except section number.
Just consider the following 2 situations:
Situation 1: Fully correct answer but wrong Section no. quoted
Situation 2: Fully correct answer but no sections are quoted at all
I think situation 2 will fetch you more marks than situation 1.
Be careful for your DT & IDT papers

they are profesionals & doing for a long time,it's not new thing,but one should not mention wrong sections,if u r not sure,further if u answered the question well shall award u the marks anyway.
it is better not to mention a section no if u dont know exactly.
if we are going to loose 1mark for not mentioning a sec,then y to losse more marks by quoting a wrong sec..

bullsh*t. u cant slaught down the whole answer for not writing the section correctly. may be one mark is deducted for wrong quote but not the entire marks. who made him the chairman?
You may loose some marks but not the whole marks..be sure.
Not the entire answer will be wrong. The examiner will cut marks for the wrong section definitely.
