Wrong name but correct pan in tds return

Hi folks

We have filed TDS return for the Q2(12-13),in which we have made some errors in spelling while entering the name of the deductees but we have correctly mentioned the PAN details.So in this case,is there any penalty can be levied on us if we dont revise the returns.Kindly let me know the correct solution to the problem.

hello friend No penalty will be levied on You. In section 271(H) there is penalty of Rs 10000 to Rs 100000, which should be levied, If a person fail to submit tds return and furnish wrong statement. In wrong statement This penalty will be levied only if u r not able to give an explanation to the assessing officer .........regarding misstatement. (it is a small mistake assessing officer can easily believe on it)

Tds certificates have to be downloaded from tin-nsdl website. So the name as per PAN records will reflect in the tds certificate. So dont worry if there is any mistake in the spelling.., just make sure the PAN is correct.
