Wrong claim of igst

Assessee has inadvertently put Purchase figure in IGST input column, and set off against cgst and sgst liability. He has utilized IGST fully. But he is having sufficient cgst and sgst input in all the months. Can anyone suggest how to reverse wrong claim of igst and how to rectify the issue.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses an inadvertent error where an assessee incorrectly claimed IGST input tax credit by entering purchase figures in the wrong column. The IGST was fully utilised, impacting CGST and SGST liabilities. The advice provided suggests rectifying the mistake in the next month's return by reducing the current month's ITC IGST and preparing a reconciliation statement. Be aware that interest may be applicable on the reversed ITC due to its prior utilisation.

You can rectify all mistakes in next month return

Reduce current month ITC IGST

if current month ITC - 1000 Less wrongly claimed ITC 800

Enter only 200, Prepare Reconciliation statement
There in table 4 eligible ITC section
you get reverse of ITC
reverse there's as per your requirement or igst you taken
as you say you put your purchase value in igst and utilities it
so there's will be interest on reversing of the
ITC as you utilities it
