What are the legal steps an individual should follow to work from India in a project of a foreign company which does not have branch in India and getting paid from that foreign company?

What taxes that individual needs to pay for such income?

Summary: To work from India for a foreign company, register as a sole proprietor, open a current account for foreign remittances, and ensure you comply with SOFTEX filing if applicable. You are responsible for paying your own income tax (via advance tax) and should register for GST if your turnover exceeds threshold limits. You can claim credits for any taxes paid abroad via DTAA provisions by filing Form 67.
