In maharashtra it is covered under MVat Act.The payment and collection is sim to VAT.The contract in which the both Supply and labour portion is included is called works contract.

Registration of work contract by way of filing form -a with the CTO of office. please go through the tnvat.gov.in for further clarification

Hitesh Jain ! Under AP Vat Act, you have to apply before the CTO having proper jurisdiction.

I would like to submit as follows:- Works Contract tax is applicable only on the transfer of property in goods in the execution of works contract. Works contract or contracts of work where no transfer of property of goods passes in the execution of works contract are out of the purview of VAT or WCT. WCT is ultimately a part of VAT.
