DR stands for Debit Record and CR for Credit Records
Its so simple as that.
It is just a short form thats all. Dr:- Debit Cr:- Credit
The answer to that is the following question by me...
Why do we call a CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT as C.A.??????
There is no great logic to applied here. It is simple, Dr is short form of Debit and Cr is short form of Credit.
Okk let me tell u correct answer. Earlier people use to maintain two seperare registers i.e. debit register nd credit register respectively.
So Dr. and Cr. are nothing but the short name of debit and credit.....
Please send an email from ur email account to the following address CAfinalstudents-subscribe @ yahoogroups.com and be a part of CA final students group...u can ask ur queries and u will be aware of the group activities...
Dr stands for Debit record and Cr stands for Credit record.
they r simply abbr. to make r work easy...
how it will look in journal entries if u write debit or credit..every professional course is recognised by short names..like dr. mba. ca etc..
so why its called dr n cr. to b accepted by evry organisation

there is no 'r' in debit. So why do we write dr?
