WHY? STUDENTS R TAKING DUMMY ARTICLES...?

Ya .. The main cause people go to dummy is cuz they cannot manage studies and office together. And you made a good point about reducing articleship period cuz 2.5 years is also a pretty good time to get exposed to a single audit firm .

No... I dont agree with all of u.....

According to me, Many students are taking dummy not because of our course structure or there coaching problems..... But they are taking dummy bcoz they dont understand the true value of Articleship.....

Most of the students just want to pass the exams but what is the meaning of mere passing in which u dont have any practical knowledge..??? If u cant stand on your own after becoming a chartered Accountant then its better to just not to do this course.......After all the 3 or 3.5 yrs of  practical training not only helps the students to understand the whole concept but also gives them enough exposure......And if students are taking dummy due to prep. in exams then WE are given enough leave for it..... arent we..??

And Why is Ca different from all the other courses..???? The only reason behind it is its practical training along with its study......

And the members of ICAI are more knowledgable then us i.e we students.... So whatever decision would be taken will be the best from their knowledge point of view.......

I m really sorry if I m wrong.... I just wanted to give my ideas as frankly speaking i have great respect for our CA course nd i just cant stand by those who think that taking dummy articleship is good.....

Well Guys ur right in the sense that the period of articleship should be reduced, but, Practical training is necessary if you want to survive in the professional world for a long time, doing the same work again & again brings perfection & specialisation in the work, its not that the ICAI doesnt think about it, all the members in the board were students once and have undergone the same 3 years articleship, you all as students have to understand that we CA's r a rare species, if everything becomes simple like in B.Com, then there will be no professionalism, so, we hv 2 live with the tuftness of the course, it brings the best out of us, so keep urself motivated and keep going. Always make it ur motive, that "When the Going gets Tuft, the tuft get going". Plz do not bring negative thoughts in your mind. I think further problems for metro city students are that they rely very heavily on coaching, which is detrimental, you have to most of the things urself. How will one achieve perfection in a particular area by just working for one or two years in that area?

It is a very wrong attitude on student's part to do dummy articleship for any reason.

In my experience, I have seen that most of the people do dummy articleship because they say they want to concentrate on studies and want to score good marks. These people fail to understand that by doing articleship that too with big 4 who gives the least leave, there are students who have got Rank 1 in CA final also (See featured column of this website for more details). So many people doing regular articleship getting so less leave, improper attendance at tutions....have come in top 10 in CA final as well as PCC. If they are exceptions and they got a Rank, all of us can atleast pass.

I think it is high time students should change their attitude towards the course especially for articleship. Ask yourself why you are doing CA, what are your goals in life and how CA will help you achieve them? How CA degree or a rank will help a company make money, how it will help you grow? If one doesn't know all this, its a waste. People keep studying and studying without knowing what their ultimate goal is and how these ranks and degrees would help them achieve it and how all this helps create value for the world and the society.

Articleship is a very golden opportunity to learn. If taken seriously, it can do wonders even if one doesn't become a CA. At the end of the day, your output counts. If there are hundreds of degrees, but the person doesnt know his ultimate goal and how these degrees would help him achieve it, whats the use? How these degrees will help a company make money should be known to the candidate. And articleship will help a candidate realise all this. I do agree that not all the firms would provide this kind of learning. Therefore, I oppose the recent notification to the extent of the transfer regulations. Transfers should be permitted and they should be made a bit difficult at the same time so that students dont keep taking transfers.

If the option to take transfer's is opened up, I would be happy if ICAI permits to take up CPT immediately after 10th and increases the articleship period.

During 1991-1994 period the article ship period was just 3 years. I really could not get the hang of the accounting knowledge during this period. I came from family where we never used to know anything about busines, finance and accounts. Book knowledge and bok was the only medium of accumulating the knoweldge. Even the Indian companies were very inward looking at that time. There was very little scope for learning anything. The cleints which chartered firms had was vey small in size.

Good knowledge could be acquired at that time from bank audit. But then only the lucky few could get opportunity to visit the bank audit. These abnk audit was done duringh the first half of calendar year and was clashing with exam leaves.

My peesonal experience was article clerk used to get veru little exposure in 3 years of articleship. Chartered accountanst who cleared during those period acquired and developed theier knowedge base during continous work with corporate in the last 2 decades. Maturity in indian companies, competition, change in business enviornment compelled the chartered accountants to move the value chain and acquired the more refined knowledghe in finance.

I beleive the current period for articleship is good and helps students to mature themselves before jumping into the market.

Beleive me even in big four chartered accountant firm the articles are tired of doing the same repititve work..I have personally seen students quitting the big 4 firms due to above reasons.

Whatsoever be the case the current period of articleship is justifiable.

 i agree with tanuja i think it is a kind of expoiltation that is done to student by all chartered firms they as us to do all vouching and verification jobs and they do all imp work like making balance sheet and preparing cash flows and they think as if they had got a D grade skillful staff at very low cost in a very small pay according to me institute should reduce the timing or else it should increase the pay slab so that we might not move to take a dummy articleship

i thnk d training shud start after pcc only.................lik in cs we hv trainig in a company after passing executive programme only

moreover we dnt gt tym to study for our course

hey friends, may be u r right... but the problem is new rules... that we cant take termination in last 12 months... then what abt industrial training...

another one in the same city.. we cant rejoin.. if any one gets good firm.. what they will do..?

no need to say sorry... u r free to say anything.. this forum is just to share ur views...

Those who are taking dummy is "just dumb people" .         that's why in short we call them "dum(B)my".

What you have to understand is the earlier generation also attended the same type of articleship, when there was manual accounting system. They have completed three years of articleship. and passed the CA.

And.......at the moment they qualified, they were confident enough to start their own practice. Just think you dummies, what are you going to do when you qualify. Theoritical knowledge alone is not sufficient for a Professional, [just think, why there is housesurgency for doctors...or will you consult a doctor if you know that he was a dummy [if such a case is there].

So taking dummy articleship means you are not fit for the profession. You have a weak personality, who cannot fight against obstacles. and in total you will bring disgrace to yourself and the profession.

So either do the regular articleship or just get lost. Dont go for dummy [better to say DUM(B)MY.
