i am retired from private job having interest income of 75-80 thousands yearly and wife having interest income of same amount.

You have to file ITR-1 showing interest income under head Other Sources
as your income doesn't exceed the basic exemption limit there is no compulsion to file income tax return
No need to file ITR. But you can use ITR-1.
