Result of CPT & Chartered Accountancy Final Examination

January 16, 2009 PRESS RELEASE The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India. During its nearly six decades of existence, ICAI has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for its contribution in the fields of education, professional development, maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. ICAI now is the second largest accounting body in the world.   The Curriculum of the Chartered Accountancy Course has been designed, developed and maintained so that the members of the Profession can become the valued Trustees of the World Class Financial Competence, Good Governance and Competitiveness. For details regarding the curriculum, please refer to Annexure 1.   Since December 1949, the Chartered Accountancy Examination is held twice in a year. The Final exam was held in November, 2008 in 190 Examination Centers spread over 106 cities all over India and 3 cities abroad.   Today, the Results of Chartered Accountancy Final exam & Common Proficiency Test (CPT) have been declared. CPT is the entrance level route to Chartered Accountancy stream which every intending candidate has to clear before enrolling for the Professional state. As against above, the total number of students that appeared in the Final Examination held in May’08 are as under: Both Groups 10570 Only Group I 6965 Only Group II 8096 Total:- 25625 3. The total number of students that appeared in the Final Examination held in Nov’08 are as under: Both Groups 14606 Group I 6558 Group II 9235 Total:- 30399 There is an increase in number of students that appeared in the Final Examination held in Nov’08. There is increase of more than 25.00 % in the number of students for Final Examination as compared to Nov’07. 2. The percentage of Female Students is continuing on the rising trend over a period of time. Out of total 30,399 students that appeared for Group-1, group-2 & Both Groups in Nov’08, the number of Female Students were 7189, i.e., 23.64 % of the total students as compared to 23.04 % of female students in May’08. Not only that, out of first five positions, 2 positions have been bagged by Female Students. Female students continue to excel in their performance in CA examination. In terms of regions, North and East region are doing quite well. In Western region, Gujrat is leading in CA examination. Among the states in Northern region, Punjab and Chandigarh are leading. In terms of Cities, performance of students of Delhi and Chandigarh are ahead of other cities.
