I remember there is a Supreme Court Case in whcih it was held that packaged software is goods and sales tax is payable on it
yes it is taxable under famous case of TCS

Sale of software , it comes with in the perview of goods & services and vat is liable on the same.
Yes packed/wired software is liable to VAT based on Supreme Court Judgement in respect TCS
the sale of licensed software is liable to sales tax/VAT as per the judgement of the Apex Court in TCS case.

It should be....cuz ur selling sumthin n hence dose r goods ...thus VAT comes into picture...btw iv herd all indirect taxes are goin to be converted into one tax called GST...which wil solve a hell lot f confusions created cz f dese indirect taxes....
