Let a=b

Multiplying both sides by a we get, a²=ab

Now adding a² to both the sides we get, a²+a²=a²+ab

Or, 2a²=a²+ab

Now subtracting 2ab from both the sides we get, 2a²-2ab=a²+ab-2ab

Or, 2a²-2ab=a²-ab

Or, 2(a²-ab)=1(a²-ab)

Now cancelling (a²-ab) from both the sides we get 2=1 or 1=2
