Vat on excise duty inter state purchase

We are in chennai tamilnadu and got a quote from supplier based in banglore karnataka for purchase of electronic equipment. Supplier has quoted 12.36% excise duty on goods value and 14.5% vat on goods value+ excise duty. For interstate sales is it correct please comment

It is a rght bt instead of VAT, CST will be charged on interstate purchase or sale

Thanks for the response, what is the rate of CST, we dont have authority to give C Form.

If u dont have authority to give Form "C: then the VAT rate applicable at the selling state will be assumed as CST rate. In short full rate of VAT will be applicable on CST sale without Form "C" if the buyer cannot issue Form "C".
