VAT & CST implication on import & sale

Dear all,

Mr. X is a registered dealer in Gujarat. He wants to import certain goods. Place of importation will be Mumbai. Goods imported are also to be sold in Mumbai only. Hence goods will not be brought in Gujarat anytime. Now, in this case, what should be modus operandi?

Would it be treated as Interstate Sale for him or MVAT would apply to such transactions?

Kindly clarify VAT / CST implication on such transactions and other items that should be kept in mind while executing such transaction.

Thanking you.

You need to be register MVAT then u can show the Stock Transfer to guj from Mumbai then sell it as a CST or u can sell it locally on VAT basis in Maharastra.
