Value & Scope of Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA/ICMAI) in 2022

Iam a bcom student (6th semester), I'm thinking about pursuing CMA (ICMAI/ICWAI) after my graduation. But some people say doing CMA is waste of time in these days. That ICMAI has lost its value by its online exam mode. All employers hire CA only.

Is this true?

I have confused by these rumours.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses concerns about the value and scope of the Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA/ICMAI) qualification in 2022. While some rumours suggest it's a waste of time due to online exams and employer preference for Chartered Accountants (CA), evidence points to strong placement opportunities, with top placements reaching 22 Lakhs in March 2022. The ICMAI is actively enhancing its course through online exams and soft skills programs, particularly relevant for the growing manufacturing sector. The discussion also clarifies the differences between CMA India, CMA USA, and CIMA (UK).

Your query regarding online exams is baseless . Even The CS CA Institute is planning to go for a computer base examination .

You can check the ICMAI website the Students have grabbed the highest placement i.e 22Lakhs in MARCH 2022 Campus placement .

Thanks for answering

No, doing CMA is not waste of time, it's really good choice to do this course because manufacturing industry has been growing tremendously so, doing CMA is good, apart from this, CMA institute has trying to enhance their worthiness by implementing new technologies like online exams, softskill programs,etc...the problem is our wrong perception about management, i know that they failed to implement successfully at all centres, at initial stage it is common...and, we must learn typing skills, office software...

Better pursue CA because it is only one book I guess, Cost & Management accountancy which is almost same globally. For that you  need not join it. How about CIMA? Is CMA and CIMA the same?

Thanks for answering

Sorry for late reply,

I think you are taking about CMA USA (Certified Management Accountant) which has only 2 papers and requires one year to complete.

Cost & Management Accountant or CMA India has vast syllabus. There are 20 papers and 3 levels (foundation, intermediate and final) in CMA India.

CIMA is a UK based Management Accounting course offered by Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. It has vast syllabus like CMA India as compared to CMA USA.
