Valuation of return inventory by dealer (damaged / expired)

Hi all,

How to evaluate the returned inventory by dealer if it is returned in damaged (due to negligence / non maintenance) & in expired condition? should we have to give the credit on full value considering sales price or there any cutoff % on slaes price? is there any general ruling in this regards (especially in Pharmaceuticals Industries)?
