Validating Bank account

While validating Bank account on income tax portal, in case of some taxpayers, it shows 'Name in PAN not same as name in bank account.' What should be done then? Is that an issue while filing ITR?

Quick Summary
If you encounter a 'Name in PAN not same as name in bank account' error on the income tax portal, it won't impact your ITR filing directly. However, it can cause issues with refund claims. If you have an alternative validated bank account for refunds, you may not need immediate action. Otherwise, it's advisable to rectify the discrepancy promptly, as refunds are only credited to validated accounts where all details match the Income Tax Department's records.

It will not affect ITR filing, but definitely in refund claim.

If you have another validated account for refund claim, no need to worry for the difference, otherwise get the defect rectified at earliest.

But for refund purpose they need IFSC code and account number. Name shouldn't be a concern. Right?

Now refunds get credited only to validated accounts.

Validation of an account can happen only if all the data of bank account match with that of ITD.
