write a letter to nsdl for change of the same, alongwith proof of payments etc. stating the error
keep proff of payment, as the amount paid by you only.
Yes you have to write a letter and submit all the proof related to it..
Get an acknowledgement if possible.
first u have to contact the bank & explain the mistake made bu u,along with necessary proofs.& then contact with NSDL if u r from mumbai u can directly visit to the NSDL office situated in Lower parel
i want to clear one thing.
i have made I. tax payment Rs 37748. my name is manohar c Pawar but on pan cards my surname is shown is incorrect.Gawar. can you tell me i. tax amt credited on my name.

You have done right thing that you have applied for correction in pan data.
for knowing your tax credit, you should also apply for registration for viewing Form 26AS online.
