can any one confirm whether guidance notes on accounting for index futures and accounting for derivatives is applicable for may 10 final (old) course? as the same has not been mentioned in the january newsletter and also in the RTP for May10??

This is a very good reason to believe that it is not applicable since it is clearly not specified in the RTP.
Furthermore , would like to highlight that with regards to Accounting Standards 30 - 32 , only the concepts would be tested and there would be no practical problems in the May 2010 exams ( source : icai.org )
