Hi Sajan,

I have been using Tally since 4.5 and I have used the latest version also.

My experiece is this software used by small trader to very big organisation.

One thing which is not there in Tally is Fixed Assets Register.

Tally has many strengths. But u need to know many things other than tally to exploit the benefits of Tally.

U can prepare MIS report in Excel Sheet based on Cost centre report of Tally. Cost Centre is the tool to accumulate the data flowing around the organisation. There will be sr vice president to each of this cost centre and who will be answerable to the variance in cost in relation to budgeted figure. Tally helps in achievhing this end.

Though Sales Invoice can be generated from Tally , but invoice layout cannot be fine tuned to our requirements.

Preparation of year end balance sheet / schedules and profit and loss and account is easy. U need to just export the data to excel sheet and juggle the data in excel sheet . In the same sheet u can prepare the format of schdules and final balance sheet and profit and loss account. U just give link from trial balance to schedule and from schedule to balance sheet.

Above format can be later used during preparation of income tax assessment details.

Tally teaches the TDL Language at their offices for a price. If u undergo this class, u can just improve the way of working in office. U can reduce the time taken by your staff in generating MIS report. U can really improve the productivity of your staff . Improving ur staff productivity means u are generating profit and ur staff works in more conveinient manner.

To generate details required for Income tax assessment there is a very peculiar method. Which if adopted helps in reduing the time for excuting the work.

When your company is a large service tax paying unit , the input credit amount and the data is always very large. Also the input credit data needs to be reconciled. Once this reconcilation is through in excel sheet, u can then proceed with preparation of input credit detail and then complete the ST 3 form of return filing.

For preparing this service tax input credit file, taly again is very useful. By exporting the data to excel sheet and then using various tally command u can delete and remove the unwanted figures from service tax availement and servicetax availed account.

To put it in simple words, u need experience in tally, tdl language , experience in finance work and then use these things to complete the task in your hand more effectively .
