Dear expert sir / Madam,

My client Govt. retired Senior citizen he received now A.Y (2014 - 15 ) salary arrears Amount Recd. Rs.201112/-

That amount 1993 to 2004 in the particular year arreaars later received now

i attached file my calculation correct or not

I dont know whether u done is correct or not but u hav to calculate as follows 1 : add arrears in the year of reciept and then calculate the tax liability 2 : add arrears in their respective A/Y incomes and calculate respective A/Y tax liabilities 3 : do total of all the tax liabilities as calculated in point 2 i.e. other than tax liability of A/Y in which arrears recieved 4 : excess of tax liabilty over total of point 3 is the amount of rebate

Do Agree with Sandeep,Relief U/s 89 is given on the basis that the excess amount which the assesse is paying now ,then he would have paid in those respective A.Y's as taxes.
