Hi...i need help regarding ITR forms for A.Y. 2009-10.

The Income tax dept. recently came out with ITR forms for A.Y. 2009-10.

There is an addition of field in TDS schedule for all the forms, where it asks UTN for every record. Surprisingly, the Unique Transaction Number [UTN] is expected for deductions on or after April 1, 2009.But Providing in last year return is still a question.

In respect of UTN, the forms says:
In order to enable the Income Tax Department to provide accurate, quicker and full credit for taxes deducted at source, the taxpayer must ensure to quote the Unique Transaction Number (UTN) in respect of every TDS transaction.  In general the UTN would be printed on the TDS certificate issued by the deductor.  However, in case it is not available on the certificate, the taxpayer should separately obtain the UTN either from the deductor or from the website of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) at https://www.tin-nsdl.com.

My brother's friend wants a home loan...the bank wants him to file ITR....earlier he had never filed his ITR. Now he wants this loan ASAP....so pls if any one can provide any clarification regarding UTN....so that he can file his ITR for A.Y. 2009-10.

please file it manually

please file it manually

According to me, this UTN is applicable for Tax deducted from 1.4.2009  onwards. Since your return pertains to the period upto 31.3.2009, UTN should not be applicable to you. You may fill all other fields that you can possibly fill with the TDS certificates. Anyway, the software for e-filing is stil not available on the ITD website, so you have to file a return manually.

Yes I do agree with Manoj, or wait upto 30th April 2009, where ITD efiling facility expected to be designed by that time. Regarding UTN you need not worry as it is applicable for Tax deducted on 1-4-2009 onwards.

has the income tax department given the ITRs for Efiling for the Asst Year 2009-10?
