Urgent: articleship extension

Dear Sir,

My articleship period of 3 years was supposed to get completed on 09/03/2017.

However, due to exam leaves I could not get my for 108 signed on that date. Now, i.e. on 21/06/2017, when I came to my principal for getting it signed, he said I'll need to serve an extension of 138 days.

However, for extension, form 102 and 103had to be franked on or before 09/03/2017. Since, the period of extension starts from the date of franking and I do not have any franked form, is there any way out of this? (Can anyone provide me with a blank franked form 102 and 103 dated around 09/03/201, if so kindly message me.)

Further, my for my Final CA exam form of May '17 I had submitted a certificate of service (signed by my principal on 15/02/2017) stating that my articleship alongwith any excess leaves will get completed on 30/04/2017.

Will my extension create any trouble when the results are declared i.e. results being held for non-completion of articleship on or before the aforesaid period?

Furthermore, the fees for late submission of Form 108 has been revised from 1st April, 2017, what fees will be applicable to me?

I can share with you the insight of what happened with me during my Articleship period.

My Articleship was to be completed by 1st October 2015 however due to excess leaves it was extended to 30th October 2015 that means an extension by 30 days. So the process I followed after confirming with Institute’s Student council is as follows:

File Form 108 for completion original within 30 days of original completion date i.e. 30 days by 01st October 2015 (My form attached below)
File form 107 for extension of articleship(My form attached below)
File form 108 again for final completion of articleship (My form attached below)

In my view one don’t need to file Form 102 & 103 in case of just extension, it needs to filed in case of commencement of articleship and in case of transfer from Principal but I recommend to check with the student council of ICAI for formal and official clarification.

I'm planning to serve my extension with some other principal, hence I'll require form 102 and 103

Yes, in case you are planning to serve it under some other guy, it means you are terminating from the first one. So first you will have to get Form 109 signed and submit that to the Institute within 30 days of the signing. Then you can fill up 102 & 103 and submit them.

Hi ,

Would just like to add in my opinion (even though its not mentioned anywhere in the rules) there is a possibility of submitting the franked form withing 30 days of commencement of articleship. So the period doesn't starts from the date of franking. Suggest you to confirm the same with your nearest regional centre.
