Quick Summary
A user is encountering an error when trying to upload an XML file for an income tax rectification request. The error message indicates a mismatch between the current return filing section and the one used for the rectification. Other users have reported facing the same issue, and advice suggests that rectification under Section 154 is only possible after the return has been processed and an intimation order under Section 143(1) has been received, not for filing a revised return under Section 139(5). Tips for avoiding future errors include using Form 26AS and the upcoming AIS for accurate data entry.

Can someone aware of the solution, can you please let me know.

Thanks

Under the section 154 rectification tab yet not open, you have  to wait a little more time, once your income tax return is processed and you got intimation order under section 143 1, under section 143 1  you  can rectify your return under section 154, you cannot file a revised return under section 139 5

Thanks for the response Jagdish. I am using Java Utility tool, I don't see section 154 in the responding u/s. As this is the pre-configured tool will IT department enable the section later? or Is there any workaround?
