Please let me know how to put tick mark in a cell in excel.

The option is available in Tools........in that you need to select "validation"

type "P" in the cell and change the font to Windings2

type "a" in the cell with font type "marlett"
Correct me if you think I'm wrong, but both the P in Wingdings 2 and the a in Marlett produce a check mark, not a tick mark.
