Pls read this with patience.

This monday, 18th may 2009, i went to get refund of my dad in ward no. 16(2) in CR building, Delhi for Ay 2007-08 and 08-09.

The aggregate amount of refund was Rs 4.5 lakh.

when i asked the inspector to process the same, he demanded Rs. 25000/- for the same as bribe. In shock i went to AO and intimated him about all this and he said " Maang raha hai to de do".

My family is currently in bit of financial crises and i was left without and choice but to pay him the bribe.

The point of sharing all this is that in future none of us face the same problem.

I alone wasnt able to handle the situation, but I beleive once we TEAM - UP, nothing can prevent me or any of us to take refund without any hassle.

I need you corporation.

So are you in this Team!!

FELT BAD....BUT,,

FACT IS THAT CORRUPTION IS THERE IN EVERT DEPT.. U FACE IT FIRST TIME

its normal yaar...

I hv seen so many practical case in my articleship...

this is want a PRACTICAL WORLD IS... AND ALSO ACT FAILS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE TRANSPARENCY IN IT DEPT FUNCTIONING...

Feel sorry for you Piyush.........BUT this is an unfortunate fact of our govt depts. So far as Income Tax Refunds are concerned..........this kind of corrupt practice can be greatly reduced IF the refunds are issued ONLINE. Steps were taken in the past in this direction, but they were not enough. Manual Refunds are still very much in practice.

In ROC, all the dealing was suddenly made online (compulsorily) a few years back. This led to huge reduction in corruption there. The staff was so much miffed (I saw here in Ahmedabad) that they used to misbehave with people for their sources of corruption had narrowed. Lets hope this also happens in Income Tax sooner rather than later. For rest of the govt. depts............we all know the ugly truth.
